Dr. Pamela K. Hannaman, MS., ND., CPC is a native of Ashland, VA. She attended Mary Washington College (now the University of Mary Washington) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and biology (double major, pre-med curriculum) in 1981. In 1984, she earned a Master of Science degree in biochemistry from the Medical College of Virginia (now Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine). For several years thereafter, she worked in the science industry in environmental labs, medical research and the pharmaceutical industry; then made a purposeful transition into the natural health industry as a result of her personal health journey.
From 1996-2001 Dr. Hannaman attended Bastyr University in Seattle, WA and earned her Doctorate in naturopathic medicine. Following graduation, she became a board certified, licensed naturopathic physician in the state of Washington in September of 2001, when she was also awarded a coveted residency position (one of six positions out of 25 qualified applicants) at the Bastyr Center of Natural Health. There she practiced as a resident physician and supervised 3rd and 4th year students until September of 2002 when she chose to return to her hometown of Ashland with the purpose of becoming involved in the challenging task of bringing naturopathic medicine legally to the state of Virginia once again.
The current absence of licensing laws in the state of Virginia for naturopathic physicians prevents Dr. Hannaman from practicing as the primary care provider that she is trained to be and, as a result, legally limits her to her current role as a natural health expert. She currently does consulting as a health, wellness, nutritional and life counselor; she is a natural health educator and lecturer, and she is a patient rights advocate. Most recently she became professionally certified as a medical coder.
